Youth River Skills Multi-Day Adventure
A youth-centered and hands-on introduction to whitewater rafting and skills.
Service Description
This is a great add-on to one of our multi-day trips, designed for participants aged 12-17. It offers a hands-on introduction to river dynamics, paddling and rowing techniques, raft equipment, reading and navigating whitewater, team dynamics, and important river safety and rescue. Some activities the participants can expect include: • Whitewater Rafting • Camp and Dutch Oven Cooking • River and Camp Games • Camp set-up, take-down, and rigging gear • Practice captaining both a paddle and an oar boat • Technical River skills such as: scouting, knot tying, throw-bag rescues, and flip drills. Like any of our trips, these sessions are led by our experienced and licensed guides. Due to the amount of information covered, we recommend pairing this with a three-day trip, but a condensed version can also be applied to an overnight trip. This trip offers a sneak peek into our guide training and is a great option for youth groups, church groups, and scout troops (let us know beforehand, and we can supply inflatable kayaks and fulfill requirements for kayaking and whitewater merit badges). Because we love what we do and want to share that passion, this add-on can be included at no additional cost. Group discounts are available.
